Description

  • Monument: Two joining fragments of a thick white marble slab (0.34 x 0.27 x 0.13), chipped at right edge and broken below.
  • Text: Inscribed on the prepared face.
  • Letters: Av. 0.02, irregular, lunate.
  • Date: Fifth/sixth century (content, metre).

Translation

(i.e. This is the) tomb of ?Jordanes from the stem of Eulalius, whom chilly virgin justice had as a worthy servant; but jealous, hatefully-named Fate snatched him quickly, (i.e. he who was) splendid [...] ?taking away.
